77 338: the record-high number of visitors for 25 years of holding the MosBuild exhibition
MosBuild moved to the Crocus Expo centre this year, and this facilitated the further expansion of the event: the visitors appreciated highly 2 new thematic areas of the exhibition, 15% increase in total area, and the content events, integrated into the exhibition space.
1200 companies from 40 countries of the world took part in MosBuild 2019, including 300 new participating companies. 10 national groups were organized, uniting companies from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Latvia, Taiwan, Serbia, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Finland. The total exposition area was 100 000 sq.m.
The high commercial efficiency of the MosBuild 2019 exhibition was confirmed by the number of visiting professionals. 77 338 persons from 82 regions of Russia and 65 countries visited MosBuild between the 2nd and 5th of April, and this is 19% higher than the number of visitors of the last year exhibition.
The number of prospective buyers increased considerably. The number of wholesale buyers was 19 801 persons, 14% more than the last year, and the number of retail buyers was 16 520, 17% more than at MosBuild 2018. It should be specifically noted that the number of buyers from various regions of Russia, 26 496 persons, increased by 13%.
MosBuild returned itself the ceramics segment, and Unitile, Italon, Laminam, Nefrit Keramika, Cersanit, ESTIMA Ceramica, and a number of other companies became its leaders.
The window technology section reappeared with the total area of about 6,000 sq. m. The largest companies in this segment: VEKA, REHAU, Deceuninck, ROTA, SIEGENIA, Exprof, and many others presented their wide product lines, energy saving developments, and latest engineering solutions in the window technology area. The Global Window Forum and the Golden Window award ceremony took part within the course of the exhibition.
Russian and foreign participants prepared specially for MosBuild a presentation of all-new products from their collections, developed in collaboration with world-class designers. The LAUFEN booth displayed the latest collection of bathroom items created by the famous Dutch designer Marcel Wanders. Vyacheslav Zaytsev, Russian fashion artist, presented a new spring wallpaper collection at the MIR company group booth. Galina Yudashkina and Debora Benbenuti presented a fresh wallpaper collection, created by Valentin Yudashking and manufactured at the Emiliana Parati factory in Italy.
The unparalleled world-class business programme, which included 90 business events led by 240 speakers, was prepared for the visitors of the anniversary MosBuild exhibition.
This year, the MosBuild organizers invited distinguished foreign and Russian architects and designers to the exhibition, and their presentations were very popular. Marcel Wanders, a Dutch “new era” designer; Sebastian Herkner, designer of the year according to Maison & Objet; architect Pero Puljiz, winner of prestigious awards; interior designer and industrial designer Francesc Rifé; Christos Passas, executive director of Zaha Hadid Architects; Dutch architect and urban specialist Marcus Appenzeller,
Italian architect Francesco Pappalardo, colorist David Mottershead, and other international architecture and design celebrities became the headliners of the business programme.
Interactive content sites arranged within the MosBuild space were hugely successful. The Perfect Home site — a real 420 sq. m house, built according to the design of renowned Russian architect Boris Uborevich-Borovsky, became the most visited. 10 leading Russian designers and architects were involved in its creation: Diana Balashova, Zhenya
Zhdanova, Tatiana Gorshkova, Oleg Klodt, Elena Solovieva, Svetlana Arefieva, Pavel Zheleznov, Anna Muravina, Ilona Menshakova, and Irina Markidonova; the house was only built using the materials supplied by participants and partners of the exhibition.
A novel unique project — VR Space by Diana Balashova, where guests, by means of virtual reality, could feel like designers and develop their own interior, was implemented at MosBuild 2019. The VR Space by Diana Balashova project was visited by over 500 people a day. The “virtual reality” concept was created upon the project of designer Diana Balashova, the exhibition’s ambassador, the architectural concept is authored by Arsen Orekhov, the project was implemented by the Vislab studio.
The capsule collection of designer’s furniture by MosBuild ambassador Zhenya Zhdanova and Imperial Porcelain Manufactory was presented at the Design Lab creative content-site, along with the lighting fixtures from creative collaboration with Bezhkolighting. Zhenya Zhdanova also taught a master class in taking photos of interiors, where she discovered some secrets of creating ideal images for interior design magazines.
The events of well-known formats, such as DIY forum, design battles, Talk Design, Know-How Café, discussions, workshops, and contests for young designers, were very successful. Know-How Café, a Creative content site, deserved especial attention with its design, developed by Dmitriy Samygin, and the programme of designers’ and decorators’ presentations, defined in partnership with the Elle Decoration magazine.
DIY forum participants discussed finishing-and-building materials market intelligence; Yandex and INFOline experts delivered the exclusive report on the most rapidly growing sales channel. The presentations made by Sergio Giroldi, Chair of the Board, OBI company group, and by John Herbert, Secretary General of EDRA/ghin, became the key events of the DIY forum.
From year to year, MosBuild strengthens its programme for architects, invites world-class speakers who share their best practices in creating large international projects. This year, the main event, i.e., the Architectural forum, was facilitated by Alexander Zmeul, the Chief editor of the arch:speech architectural portal.
The landmark events, such as the exhibition of the best works from the “ArchiGraphics: 5 Years” content, the ArchiDigitalArts and Smart: State-of-the-art Materials, ARchitecture, Technology award ceremonies, and the “Low-rise town” forum, took place at the Architectural Lecture Centre, specifically organized at the 2019 exhibition. The best, spectacular, as well as unconventional but trendy Russian practices in the area of housing were demonstrated within the “Housing. Best Practices” case show project, jointly
implemented with arch:speech.
The largest manufacturers of building and finishing materials taught various master classes in the constructional innovations zone. Renowned industrial designer Vladimir Pirozhkov read an open lecture within the first stage of the Space 2.0 special project; he reviewed some contemporary technological and social trends and future challenges.
Over all days of the exhibition, 10 372 persons attended the business programme events, which makes 13% of the total number of exhibition visitors. This is three times larger, than the previous year!
During each day of the exhibition, the television studio MosBuild TV by ESTIMA Ceramica, erected in partnership with ESTIMA Ceramica, one of the leading porcelain stoneware manufacturers, in collaboration with Italian architectural bureau A&M Production, hosted interviews with the key speakers of the exhibition and thematic master classes taught by the International Design School (IDS).
MosBuild reconfirmed its status of the largest and most prestigious exhibition in Russia, with a record high number of visitors exceeding 77 thousand people. This is the only exhibition presenting almost all the sectors of the building and finishing materials market — 13 thematic sectors.
